Black Belt Grading
Held every year on the last Saturday of November, the Tae Men Jo is Loong Fu Pai's signature demonstration event. All dojos perform, and awards and belt promotions are presented by Kancho Terry Lim.
The 2026 TMJ will celebrate the academy's 45th Anniversary. Suggestions for how to mark the milestone are warmly invited — contact Kancho with your ideas.
Get in Touch →Competitions Throughout the Year LFP members regularly compete at State, National and Oceanic level in Kung Fu, Karate and Kickboxing. Contact your local dojo instructor for current competition dates and details.
The Tae Men Jo (TMJ) is one of the most important events in the Loong Fu Pai calendar. Students from all dojos perform demonstrations in front of families, fellow students and the wider community.
It is an evening of performance, pride and celebration — culminating in the presentation of awards and belt promotions by Kancho Terry Lim.
The 2025 TMJ was a great success, with attendance from dojos across Victoria including the Wangaratta Dojo and Kyoshi Di, who travelled especially for the occasion.

We’ve just arrived back from two incredible weeks of fun and intense Muay Thai training in the high heat and humidity of Bangkok (Master Toddy Muay Thai) and Pattaya (Kru OT at O’Sansuk Muay Thai). I’m proud of everyone who took part — your toughness, dedication, and brave hearts showed in every session. You gave everything, and it earned you the respect of both gym owners. They wholeheartedly invited us to return and train with them again.
Honestly, you’ve reignited the fire in my own heart to get back into Kickboxing and Muay Thai training. I’ll be organising a fortnightly Sunday morning WKO class (1 hour), followed by a Muay Thai class, starting from mid‑June 2026. Keep an eye out for updates.
Our next Thailand trip is planned for late June/July 2027.

November 2025
Firstly, I wish to thank everyone — LFP families, udanshas and mudanshas — especially the Wangaratta Dojo and Kyoshi Di, who travelled miles just to support the event. The demonstrations from all dojos were entertaining and of a very good standard.
Also to the Dojo Instructors — thank you for guiding your students for their tasks on the night. Not to forget our MC, Shihan Michael DeBastitta, who also managed the evening's programme. To those who donated raffle prizes, many thanks for your generosity.
Finally, congratulations to all who received awards and promotions. You all deserved them.
Looking forward to next year's TMJ (last Saturday of November). Please mark it in your diary. I wish to get some suggestions for our 45th Anniversary — do we need to celebrate? How, when and where? All ideas welcome!
